introduction

Kaori is the daughter of two exiles from Sui-no-Sato. Her parents opened a small tea shop in Kugane that specializes in small delights and unique blends hailing from the Ruby Sea. While born in Kugane, she grew up at the intersection of two different worlds: a reclusive, traditional upbringing clashing with a bustling melting pot. As a child her parents' tea shop had been the target of consistent raids, break-ins, and legal troubles. As a small business, it was difficult to hire proper security. This instilled a strong sense of justice and responsibility in the Raen and motivated her to study law at a local institute to better represent people like her parents, but also prosecute those who are guilty of committing acts of crime against the poor. She can be hired for a small amount of gil, so long as she has the evidence to lock up criminals. It is noted that she's classified as a lawyer in Kugane and no where else. Her license can only cover Kugane, Shirogane, and a small portion of Hingashi.Kaori's parents are practitioners of traditional geomancy and while not a combat-oriented individual, she can provide a level of support and healing to her comrades when they are in need. But, by no means can this character fend for herself in the face of a real threat. She's a woman raised on books, by the books.

  • She has never formally visited Sui-no-Sato but bears the blessing of being able to breathe under water. It's common for her to hang out at beaches or near bodies of water.

  • Work hard, play hard. Kaori vacations often (since she's raking in the big $) but she's also a workaholic. When she's in work mode, it's hard to remove her from her office.

  • Her parents continue to own a small tea shop called Cha An, specializing in traditional Hingan desserts.

  • Despite being an absolute flirt, she takes nothing seriously. She has sky-high standards for men and doesn't settle for cheap, flimsy playboy antics.

  • Your character is a criminal, in law enforcement, or another lawyer from a different nation. She would love to pick your brains and learn how you either got off the hook, prosecuted/defended someone, or an average day as a cop. A lot of it amuses her greatly.

  • The Bubbly Tourist! Kaori loves to travel and go sight seeing. She has very little experience outside of Othard, so please show her around. She will pay you! (Thavnair, Old Sharlayan, Ishgard, etc...) Also, please provide adequate protection. Kaori has no idea how to use a gun or a sword.

  • Hey, you're kinda cute. If you're not a graduate of a higher level institution (like The Studium), a doctor, lawyer, aetherial scientist, high level law enforcement, or a member of the Forum, you're not her type.

Since this character is non-combative, it's important to outline that she's better in scenes that involve political drama, intrigue, and slice of life. You will rarely find her outside of cities unless guided by a bodyguard. She serves as a good tool make or break legally binding contracts but also free your OC of wrongful convictions. I can make it a lengthy process too!
